'Toolkit' A to Z

The key approach adopted by AUNT-SUE has been to develop a comprehensive range of research resources, and test these through robust tools and techniques that can be used to address under-researched accessibility issues - at scales ranging from counties and boroughs, town centres and neighbourhoods, to the micro-level of streets and facilities such as bus stops, signage and ticket machines ...

AMELIA Scale

AMELIA is a software tool that will enable planners to test that their transport and other policies do increase social inclusion. ConSEPT explored whether AMELIA can also serve as a consultation tool with people who are socially excluded, and also whether the assumptions embedded in AMELIA reflect the views and behaviour of these groups.

Wizard

As part of AUNT-SUE, Juliet Solomon (LMet) and Helena Titheridge developed and tested accessibility Benchmarks and Standards appropriate to various socially-excluded groups - using both existing data and field research.

HADRIAN

HADRIAN is a SAMMIE CAD based tool that enables designers and planners to simulate how different individuals cope with various transport-related tasks and help identify issues at the concept stage or select the optimum design....

i-Journey

The i-Journey prototype demonstrates how journey planners could be developed to fulfil their potential as tools for inclusion. It is an innovative web interface that has been designed to demonstrate how these concepts can be realised.

SEI

AUNT-SUE also tested the Prospect/Refuge theory, which states that fear of crime can be predicted based on the openness of the space through which the pedestrian is waking and the number of hiding place for potential attackers.

SEI

SEI attempts to predict the level of fear of crime felt by pedestrians in an area, and to highlight hotspots of fear of crime, linking disorder in the physical environment to withdrawal of residents from the street and hence to a reduced likelihood of a pedestrian being observed and assisted.

Stresstimator

The Stresstimator is an extension to both the journey planner and HADRIAN is envisaged to help transport professionals understand why people suffer this form of social exclusion....
